S4C USB Disk Drive Replacement Unit to suit ABB robots

This extremely popular item is a direct replacement for your standard S4C floppy disk drive. 3.5” Floppy disks are obsolete technology and are a common cause of data loss - they also have very slow transfer rates compared to modern formats. The sensitivity to magnetic fields and dirt mean floppies are not suited for many industrial environments. The life expectancy of a FDD unit is 30,000 hours, this is under a third of the rest of the robot system meaning it often the first thing to go wrong, possibly taking your programs with it. Finding supplies of floppy disk media can be a problematic and very few PC’s are now fitted with a 3.5” drive. Given that programs and data are among the most valuable part of a robot system this upgrade makes a lot of sense.
